FJ&A staff assisted the 7th Comms squadron with the conversion of both the copper and fibre-optic networks.

The conversion included integrating existing paper map products with GPS survey points for above ground facilities. Application development on the ArcView 3.2a platform included navigation tools, network tracing for the fibre-optic network, circuit identification tools and editing tools.

In 2002 the Comms Squadron upgraded their ArcView version to ArcGIS 8.2. FJ&A staff converted all applications from Avenue to Visual Basic and migrated the ArcView Shapefile datasets to the Personal Geodatabase format.

In 2005 the Comms Squadron again upgraded their GIS to the 9.x platform . FJ&A assisted in both data and application upgrades.

FJ&A staff continues to support 7th COMM as a resource regarding any technical issues that arise in the use or maintenance of the COMM GIS
